Did you know that it took nearly a centruy for Georges Bizet’s sparkling Symphony in C Major to be performed for the first time? Found by chance in Reynaldo Hahn’s legacy in the Paris Conservatoire, its premiere took place on the 26th of February 1935 in Basel, conducted by Felix Weingartner. Today it is performed by the “successors” – the Kammerorchester Basel under the direction of Pierre Bleuse – of these pioneers.
